Board responsibilities and duties encompass:

• Regularly attending general Board meetings and other important meetings
• Staying informed about committee matters by preparing for meetings, and reviewing and commenting on minutes and reports as required.
• Getting to know other committee members and building a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus
• Actively participating in developing and implementing Open Table’s strategic plan and other evaluation and planning processes
• Contributing to performance evaluations of the CEO
• Assisting the CEO and Board’s President in identifying and recruiting other board members that reflect the diversity of the communities served by Open Table
• Partnering with the CEO and other Board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
• Serving on sub-committees and taking on special assignments
• Representing Open Table to stakeholders and acting as an ambassador for the organisation
• Taking an active role in fundraising initiatives and raising the profile of the organisation

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications or attributes:

• Strong organisational and communication skills, with an eye for detail Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the not-for-profit sector
• A commitment to and understanding of Open Table’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience
• Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and facilitating and building consensus among diverse individuals
• An ability to maximise current resources, seize opportunities and think creatively
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Open Table’s beneficiaries
• An individual who aligns with our values of fairness, inclusiveness, generosity, resourcefulness and collaboration.
