Mahboba’s Promise is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan, surrounding regions, and Australia.

The organisation has been in operation for 25 years, committed to building a prosperous future for marginalised women, children, widows and orphans. More recently the organisation has also pivoted to provide specialised support to the growing cohort of refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan and surrounding regions here in Sydney.

Through connections with communities in Afghanistan, we have delivered critical humanitarian aid during crises and driven long-term sustainable change through a range of programs including four orphanages across rural provinces in Afghanistan, outreach programs, schools and education programs, healthcare clinics, micro-businesses, agricultural skills building projects and women empowerment initiatives. To date our work has positively impact over 1.6 million people.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough review of existing policies, identifying areas of improvement and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including staff and management, to gather insights and perspectives on policy effectiveness and implementation challenges.
  • Rewrite or restructure existing policies to enhance clarity, coherence, and alignment with regulations and standards as well as the organisation's mission and values.
  • Support the Operations Manager to writing new policies where needed.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive policy repository and reviewal calendar, ensuring easy access and understanding for all staff members.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager teams to facilitate the integration of revised policies into daily operations.
  • Create a detailed report on the project including the implementation status of policies, key achievements, challenges, and recommendations for ongoing improvement.
  • Support the Operations Manager in creating training materials for staff members to ensure a thorough understanding of new or updated policies.

Key Outcomes:

  • Ensure policies on website are updated
  • Ensure policies are correctly located within organisational intranet
  • Create a policy repository and reviewal calendar
  • Create a report on the project
  • Create policy training materials
