About the program The Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) and Specialist Residential Rehabilitation Program’s (SRRP) provide welcoming and supportive environments for people experiencing mental illness with support to get them through a difficult patch or to help with getting back to living independently in their home.

These programs are staffed by trained professionals and are delivered in partnership with Wellways and Goulburn Valley Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.

The PARC and SRRP settings encourage links to participant’s natural supports and their participation in community life.

About the opportunity We are looking for volunteers who will provide a warm, inclusive, and welcoming approach to assist participants to link in with a range of social and community networks. The role of the volunteers will be to help the development of social connections that will assist participants to live a meaningful life in their local community.

As a volunteer with PARC & SRRP, you will play a meaningful role in supporting the program activities to ensure that participants receive empowering, holistic and inclusive support and care. More specifically, your time with us might see you helping with facilitating group activities on site such as art therapy or cooking programs; supporting participants to enjoy activities off site that are being offered in the local area such as markets, music festivals, museums etc.

As a Wellbeing Volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Offer empathetic support and a listening ear

  • Assist in facilitating fun activities and workshops

  • Help reduce stigma about mental health in our community

  • Connect individuals with local groups and activities that exist in their local community

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Valid Australian Driver License

  • Non-judgmental, supportive attitude and ability to empathise

  • Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening Check

  • Evidence of right to work / volunteer within Australia
