Call for applications for the SHINE SA Board Chair SHINE SA is now recruiting to the position of Chair of the Board and welcomes enquiries and applications from experienced Board Chairs who share SHINE SA’s vision of sexual health and relationship wellbeing for all. SHINE SA is a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee, registered under the Corporations Act 2001. Applicants are encouraged to share their skills, qualifications, values and vision for SHINE SA in their application.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong corporate governance skills, an understanding of SHINE SA’s and the broader not-for-profit and health service contexts and a desire to advance SHINE SA’s strategic objectives.

Short listed applicants will be required to undergo formal probity checks including a Working With Children Check, an Australian Securities and Investments Commission Disqualification Register Check, and a National Personal Insolvency Index Check. This is a volunteer position. Qualifications with a recognised association such as the Australian Institute of Company Directors will be highly regarded. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and/or from LGBTIQA+ communities are encouraged to apply and will bring lived experience perspectives which are valued at SHINE SA.

About SHINE SA SHINE SA provides comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services and programs. Founded in 1970 as the Family Planning Alliance of South Australia, SHINE SA retains an approach founded on the principles of bodily autonomy and choice and prioritises services for populations with the highest needs and vulnerabilities to poorer health outcomes.

SHINE SA’s clinics provide contraception (including emergency contraception), testing and management of sexually transmissible infections and blood borne viruses including HIV, cervical screening, pregnancy testing, counselling and referral, and sexual health counselling. SHINE SA’s Hyde Street Practice also provides inclusive GP services and Sexual Health Physician appointments.

SHINE SA builds the capacity of the broader health sector to address the sexual and reproductive health needs of the community through workforce education and training for doctors, nurses, midwives and other health and related workers.

SHINE SA also delivers a statewide education program providing comprehensive and inclusive relationships and sexual health education in schools, develops and delivers health promotion information, resources and campaigns and partners with Thorne Harbour Health on South Australia’s targeted HIV prevention and health promotion response through the SAMESH program. Supporting our education and health promotion programs, SHINE SA has a specialist sexual and reproductive health library and resource centre.

As a Rainbow Tick Accredited organisation, SHINE SA provides LGBTIQA+ inclusive and affirming services and programs, including training in LGBTIQA+ inclusive practice for other organisations.

We celebrate diversity and strive to make our organisation safe and accessible to our priority populations, including young people (25 and under), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, LGBTIQA+ people and people with lived experience of disability, HIV and sex work.
