Volunteer Digital Mentor
Community Support Services IncKEY FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide one-on-one or group mentoring sessions to older Australians to enhance their digital skills and confidence.
- Assist learners in navigating online platforms, managing files and documents, and utilizing basic software tools.
- Diagnose and resolve common technical issues related to computers, smartphones, and other digital devices.
- Educate learners on cybersecurity principles and safe internet usage habits.
- Tailor explanations and teaching approaches to suit the understanding and comfort level of older learners.
- Demonstrate empathy and patience in supporting learners through the challenges of adapting to digital technology.
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences.
- Structure mentoring sessions to set achievable goals, manage time effectively, and track progress systematically.
- Provide constructive feedback on learner performance and evaluate progress objectively.
- Actively engage with local communities to promote digital literacy initiatives and advocate for digital inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Professional experience in a training, educational, customer support or other position requiring regular interaction with people.
- Proficiency in basic digital skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common technical issues.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
- Flexibility in teaching approaches.
- Previous mentoring or teaching roles.
- Experience working with older adults is an advantage.
