We are currently looking for volunteer drivers to drive patients to and from their treatment appointments. About the role 

The key purpose of the role of Transport to Treatment Driver is to assist the organisation by driving patients and their carers to and from treatment appointments.

Reporting to Kellie Loader, Community Coordinator, the position of Transport to Treatment – Hunter Service will support by:

  • Driving passengers to and from their homes to the treatment centres. 
  • Assisting passengers who may be unwell and/or emotionally distressed
  • Keeping records of trips using the systems specified by Cancer Council NSW
  • Communicating with the service coordinator for reliable scheduling
  • Monitoring and maintaining good health to prevent exposing patients to communicable infections, and declining to work when unwell
  • Be willing to participate and make self-available for new volunteer and refresher training

This role is one day a week, ongoing on a monthly roster system.

About You

  • Safe driving (hold a valid Australian Driver’s license)
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Have good communication and listening skills
  • Basic knowledge of cancer and its treatment
  • Willingness to participate in training and use CCNSW systems relevant for your position
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with clients, supporters and community in a positive and respectful manner
  • Participate in meetings and training with the team and your Volunteer Manager
