Children’s Rights Queensland was founded in 1971 and has a rich 50-year history of promoting the rights of children and supporting communities. The organisation’s vision is for widespread awareness and education of children’s rights in Queensland.

Children's Rights Queensland has an exciting opportunity for a new Treasurer to join our team. Our current Treasurer plans to step down from the role in May. CRQ works on a calendar year when it comes to its financial year and an audit has already been completed for 2023. This role sits on the Executive and is responsible for managing and overseeing financial and compliance matters, including budgeting, financial reporting, and insurance. The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Required to attend meetings of the Executive every 6-8 weeks.
• Monitor financial transactions, including income, expenses, and cash flow, and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Prepare regular financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for the Executive and funders.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting obligations, liaising with relevant authorities or professionals as needed.
• Manage banking and investment activities, including maintaining relationships with financial institutions and optimizing the organisation's financial assets.
• Provide financial guidance and support to the Executive and other stakeholders, offering insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and sustainability.
• Manage CRQ’s insurance profile.
• Attend and support signature events.
• Complete any additional tasks as directed by the CRQ Executive.
