We are dedicated to providing resources to enhance opportunities and support the advancement of gender equality by offering pathways towards economic empowerment through access to education and income-generating activities.

Who we are looking for

The Athia Foundation is seeking a voluntary Fundraising Coordinator to take part at the grassroots level and to help develop and implement fundraising and communication strategies across multiple platforms to build awareness of the Athia Foundation and our work.

Having a hands-on approach will be critical in supporting the Foundation’s work achieving a real impact in the lives of our beneficiaries and making significant contributions to reducing poverty and disadvantage by facilitating pathways into further education, training, and employment for people in Ghana.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Athia Foundation operates in an ethically, environmentally, and socially responsible way.
  • Promote the Athia Foundation in the community as opportunities arise.
  • Develop and implement diverse fundraising strategies aimed at achieving income targets with strong growth and fostering strong and sustained supporter engagement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of digital social media marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate the development of program content, artwork and copy.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation and industry standards, and ensure the team is aware of these requirements.
  • Perform other related duties from time to time, as agreed to with the board.

Selection Criteria

  • Supports the Athia Foundation’s mission and believes in our values and vision
  • Proactive communicator with project management experience, ideally within the not-for-profit sector with experience in individual giving and a drive to make a difference
  • Previous experience in fundraising within a NFP
  • Skills with digital communication and design software
  • A self-starter who can work autonomously and be an effective part of a small team
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • No formal qualifications are required for this role, however strong knowledge of grant writing, fundraising techniques, donor relationship cultivation management and relationship building is needed.

All volunteers must have, or be willing to obtain, the following:

  • A Volunteer Working with Children’s Check (current and valid)
  • Current Police Check (within 6 months)
  • International Police Check (if applicable)
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia (Birth Certificate, Citizenship, Permanent Residency or Visa)
  • Sign a volunteer agreement and confidentiality agreement
