Role of the Comforts Fund Volunteer • Meet and greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly manner. • Ensure the shop front is kept tidy and free of any obstacles which may cause injury to patients, clients, or staff. • Assist customers with any queries that may arise. • Communicate positively communicate with other staff and volunteers. • Reconcile the registers and close the Gift Shop at the end of the day shift. • Ensure displays are neatly presented and fully stocked at all times. • Follow policies and procedures set in place by WA Country Health

Role Scope and Responsibilities • Minimum three-hours per week, days, and times as suits shop and volunteer. • Attendance at annual mandatory essential skills training session. • Attendance at volunteer group meetings. • The Comforts Fund Volunteers are supervised by a Team Leader who coordinates the rosters, organizes all the stock, and chairs the AGM. • The Team Leader will be nominated and seconded at the AGM by Comforts fund attendees. • A Secretary for the Comforts Fund will be nominated and seconded at the AGM by Comforts fund attendees. • A Finance Officer for the Comforts Fund will be nominated and seconded at the AGM by Comforts fund attendees. It is their role to maintain all the financial records and provide evidence of any transactions when required. • Volunteers will be provided with a uniform shirt, swipe card and ID lanyard which must be worn and displayed on every shift. • The uniform shirt is to be worn with black/navy trousers or skirt and closed in shoes, during each shift. • Sign a Confidentiality Agreement. • Undergo Department of Health Criminal Record Screening • Complete the Working with Children Check. • The volunteer will sign in and out at the beginning & end of each shift. • In the event of sickness or unavailability for shift the volunteer will liaise with the Team leader. • Bunbury Hospital is committed to partnering with consumers to develop and promote consumer-centered care. Personal Attributes • Well presented with a friendly and enthusiastic manner. • Ability to approach patients and visitors in a confident and caring way. • Be sensitive and tactful at all times. • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit time to volunteer on a regular basis. • Able to be adaptable and comfortable with people who have memory loss. • Willing to be flexible and work in a team environment. • Understanding of personal and professional boundaries. A volunteer can offer emotional support and empathy but under no circumstances offer advice or a medical opinion on a patient’s treatment or assist with anything of a clinical nature. • Volunteers must maintain client/patient confidentiality at all times • Demonstrate effective hand-hygiene practice throughout the hospital. • Demonstrate WA Country Health values at all times – Community, Compassion, Quality, Integrity, Equity and Curiosity. • Respect diversity and differing opinions
