Role of the Meet and Greet Volunteer • Meet and greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly manner. • Approach people who appear to be unsure of where they are going and offer ssistance. • Direct queries, when appropriate, to the main reception desk. • Escort patients and visitors who require assistance to their destination. • Offer wheelchair assistance if necessary. • Provide companionship to those people waiting in the lobby area. • Assist those people needing a taxi service by booking the taxi on their behalf, invite them to sit in the lobby area, and offer assistance to the taxi if required. • Assist staff at main reception as required if visitor requires an escort. • Ensure the lobby area is kept tidy. E.g., magazines and toys. • Answer general queries about the hospital and associated services. • Actively look for anyone who may be lost or needs assistance. • Use your initiative and patrol busy areas. • Assist with supporting patients or visitors with giving feedback on behalf on their hospital experience via Care Opinion on iPad or in person to customer care staff. • When applicable – assisting with hospital sign in writing or by Safe WA App • When working in the Emergency Department being supportive of patients who may be unwell or in distress • Offering comfort and reassurance in the waiting room to both patients and carers • Being supportive to the staff in the Emergency Department • Other tasks which may be deemed necessary by a hospital manager.
