Women’s Community Shelters (WCS) exists to help local communities establish and operate crisis accommodation shelters and transitional housing options for women and children of all ages, who are homeless or leaving domestic and family violence. Since our establishment in 2011, the WCS head office (the Hub) has supported 10 shelters to establish and maintain successful accommodation and additional support services.

Our busy and dynamic Hub team are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer Office Assistant to provide much needed administrative support. Supported by the Office Administrator, this role includes various duties such as responding to donation and volunteer queries, data entry, research tasks and other general office duties.

When: 1 day (7 hours) per week during office hours Where: Surry Hills
Reporting to: Office Administrator

Tasks:

Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to volunteer and donation enquiries.
  • Uploading and distributing sector resources on our intranet 
  • Data entry
  • Stakeholder engagement activities including event set-up, communications and mailouts
  • Other administrative and practical tasks to support the Hub team

Key Criteria:

  • Previous experience in, or understanding of administrative and office management processes
  • Computer literate
  • Proficient in English
  • National Police Certificate
  • Working with Children Check (free for volunteers)
  • Ability to commit to volunteering for 1 day per week for 6 months or longer
