Volunteer opportunities available with the Darebin Intercultural Centre!

The Darebin English Pronunciation Program supports adults who have English as a second language, to focus on improving their communication and pronunciation. Participants work with a volunteer teacher one-on-one, enabling them to practice with language that is relevant to their lives and at an appropriate level.

We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join the program. Volunteers will work alongside and be supported by fellow volunteers, the Program Lead and Darebin Intercultural Centre staff.

Activities include:

  • work with individual learners to guide them in improving their pronunciation of English
  • work alongside fellow volunteers in a team of teachers

Skills and attributes include:

  • qualifications or studying qualifications in teaching English as a second language
  • friendly manner and good communication skills

Benefits include:

  • become an active member of the local Darebin community
  • share your skills, experience and knowledge with others
  • social connection and networking
  • gain new experiences and learn new skills

This volunteer role requires volunteers to:

  • work in accordance with Darebin City Council's values
  • adhere to Darebin City Council's Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • work in accordance with the Child Safe Standards

Darebin City Council is a child safe organisation. As part of our volunteer screening process, we require successful volunteers to hold a valid Working with Children Check and complete a Police Check (at no cost to you).
