We are looking for friendly people who are interested in making a difference in the lives of our community’s seniors by regularly visiting and being a social friend to those living in their own homes at Sunnybank Hills. In this particular role, a retired train driver with a keen interest in talking politics would enjoy the company of another like-minded male volunteer visitor. You may also share his popular music tastes including The Rat Pack, Neil Diamond, John Denver and more.

Wesley Mission Queensland's In-Home Aged Care Volunteer Visitor program aims to brighten the lives of older people living in their homes who may be socially isolated or lonely due to a lack of quality time with relatives, for cultural reasons or due to disability.

In the role of Aged Care Volunteer Visitor, you will assist in ensuring older people in their homes remain actively engaged and inspired daily. Quality time shared might include chatting, playing cards or board games, working on a hobby together, or discussing the local news. You may take a walk, grab a coffee, visit bingo, or do some gardening together.

Aged Care Volunteer Visitors are not involved in providing clinical or personal care to the people they visit.

Wesley Mission Queensland is a welcoming and rewarding place to volunteer, where you will meet many wonderful people and learn new skills that may assist you personally and professionally. There are lots of other benefits to volunteering with us as well, such as:

  • Supply and pay for any security checks required for the position
  • Great education opportunities
  • Exclusive shopping discounts
  • Access to online and face-to-face wellness advisors
  • Invitations to social events
  • Being part of a team that really is making a difference in the lives of lonely and isolated seniors living in your local community.

This role follows a COVID-19 safe work plan, and all volunteers must have both COVID-19 vaccinations.
