State Representative - South Australia

Hyperemesis Australia

We need representatives in both regional and metro areas so please stipulate in your application which of these two apply to your circumstances.

Hyperemesis Australia is a registered charity, dedicated to supporting Australian women and pregnant people living with nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and hyperemesis gravidarum; advocating for greater awareness, research, funding and support for these conditions; and providing educational and supportive resources to healthcare professionals including obstetricians, midwives, general practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and mental health care providers.

Hyperemesis Australia was founded in 2018 by a HG survivor with first-hand experience of the lack of awareness around treating these conditions and the lack of care and empathy given to sufferers. This organisation was born out of a desire to create meaningful and practical change for the many families affected by these dreadful conditions each year.

We are planning for 2024 to be our biggest year yet with new board appointments, recruiting for specific roles within the organisation and expanded support and educational offerings. To that end, we’re looking for State Representatives to help direct, drive and support change and advocacy in each Australian state and territory.

The ideal candidate will be: Highly organised, self-motivated and able to develop and implement systems based on the organisations growing needs Competent with Google Suite, Asana, Slack and Canva (or equivalent platforms) and with excellent written communication skills Empathetic and willing to listen to individuals seeking support during difficult circumstances Able to work in a professional and safe manner, maintaining confidentiality and integrity at all times and without close supervision Experience in the healthcare industry will be viewed favourably but is not essential

The State Representatives will be responsible for: Developing and maintaining a comprehensive network of contacts throughout the public and private healthcare sector and state government Developing and maintaining a state-wide database of ‘HG-friendly’ practitioners in order to provide referrals to local sufferers Developing strategic priorities for education, advocacy and reform within the state/territory and work with the Executive Team to implement these Operate the local Sufferer Support Group relevant to the state/territory

This list is only indicative, and there may be other tasks that may be requested if appropriate.

This is the ideal position for someone looking for a professional diversion for a few hours a week, someone on parental leave looking to keep their skills and mind sharp, or someone who’d like to give back to the pregnancy sickness community or a freelancer looking to support a not-for-profit with pro bono services.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
