Timing Support at NSW Rowing Regattas - Ed Trickett Championships

Rowing NSW

Rowing NSW is seeking timers to help at regattas during the season.

How to time Please note no previous experience is necessary.

Each hut/Finish Tower has 9 buttons in it which are numbered. These buttons correspond with a lane on the course.

Please note the colors of the buttons do not mean anything and DO NOT correspond with bow numbers.

The buttons are divided into 3 hand held timers. If there is 3 people give 1 to each person. If there is less you will have to work out what is the best system for you.

As a boat crosses the line for example the 1000m mark you will need to press that boats NUMBER/LANE.

There is no on switch so no need to press anything other than the numbered buttons.

The Tower timers are also the hooter for when crews cross the line..

Don't worry! It happens to the best of us. In a busy race when everyone is crossing at the same time things can get hectic.

If you mess up just keep going, the people in the finish tower will see this and can switch them if required.

If something is so close that you can't tell, don't worry no one else can either. That's what the camera on the finish is for. messed up the order?

1000m hut During 1000m races there is no need for timers as this hut becomes a start line.

A BRO will come down from the 2000m start and take over the show for those races.

Go stretch your legs outside and watch how an unheld start is done.

Similar to the 1000m hut during 1000m races you won't have a lot to do.

Go stretch your legs or if there is a large enough gap feel free to go back to the finish line for a bit. 500m hut

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
