The aim of the role is to help improve the wellbeing of residents through positive interaction with visiting volunteers and their dog. We have 3 separate sites looking for volunteers who are able to visit on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Pets have been shown to greatly increase the quality of life for older people by providing companionship, comfort and social connections that result in better physical and emotional health. You will conduct each visit in a competent and caring manner by always cleaning up after your dog; ensure the dog is washed and groomed before each visit; ensure the dog is up to date with worming, flea treatments and vaccinations.
