Do you love socialising? Having a chat over a cuppa? Making someone's day? Being a kind and compassionate ear? Our Community Connections program supports our clients in Perth metropolitan and some regional locations who are at risk of feeling lonely or isolated, by providing them with social visits. As a Community Connections Volunteer you play a key role in helping clients reconnect with their local community and encouraging them to do the things they love.

This might include spending time with our clients and: • visiting their local library or the café for a cup of coffee • sharing your interests and hobbies with them, such as arts, craft, or playing games • working with them to achieve their goals, such as engaging with their friends or family.

You may also assist in delivering their meals to help them eat well. About you This role requires you to visit our clients in their home and provide support for one to two hours a week between 9.00am to 5.00pm. To volunteer in this program you will need: •a current driver’s licence and access to a roadworthy car •to commit to this role for a minimum of six-month period

In addition, all our volunteer roles require you to: •be 18 years old and over •complete a National Police check application (paid by Silverchain) •provide proof of COVID-19 vaccinations (including the 3rd booster shot) or a medical exemption from your General Practitioner (GP) •be able to commit approximately two hours to volunteering per week.

Good communication skills and being able to work independently are key to being a volunteer. Our roles are ideal for people who enjoy spending time with older people in the community.

Benefits of volunteering: Volunteering doesn’t just benefit our clients. It allows you to experience a wide range of new experiences, hobbies, and activities with others. •meet new people and make friends •connect to and support your local community •take part in activities that boost your health and wellbeing, as well as that of the people you support •develop valuable experience and skills for a career in the community.

We will work with you to match your skills and interests to our volunteer roles as much as possible.
