Volunteers for Sydney mobile libraries for people experiencing homelessness

The Footpath Library
Logo for The Footpath Library

Our mobile libraries are monthly on weekdays in the following locations: Newtown, South Marrickville and Waterloo We also have a night time service at Martin Place on Thursdays

Volunteers are needed to pick up books from Camperdown for the daytime services, which requires lifting boxes. To do this and attend the service takes about 2.5 hours.
You will be required to setup the books and reading glasses with another volunteer, and chat to attendees. Most people attending our services do so for the social connection as much as the books and reading glasses. It is essential you are an outgoing friendly person who likes to meet people. This is a wonderful opportunity to help Australia's only giving mobile library for people experiencing homelessness. Our books are a gift, they do not need to be returned. We get new books from publishers and also give out reading glasses, notepads and pens, and warm beanies in winter.
