DIY maintenance helpers on our historic working steam ships

We seek volunteers to work on our two steamers, Waratah and Lady Hopetoun doing maintenance, cleaning, painting, varnishing, polishing brass work, keeping them ship-shape in fact. An immediate urgent need is to recaulk the teak decking on steam tug Waratah, which is leaking, allowing water to enter the machinery space.
No specific skills are needed, except for a willingness to help out. Some DIY experience as a handyman, painter or carpenter, would be desirable.
Ideally, after some hours in maintenance, you will be invited to join the deck crew on cruises, handling mooring ropes, gang planks etc., guiding and offering information to our paying passengers.
The Sydney Heritage Fleet vessels are "Happy Ships". There are no cliques or politicking. Members attend as and when they can.
Male and female applicants , all are welcome.
Access to the Workshops is by Light Rail to Rozelle Bay, frequent 500-series route buses from Town Hall and Victoria Road. Very limited member-only car space across the road.
