Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors is a service that connects volunteers with people who are experiencing loneliness or isolation. People living with dementia are some of our most isolated community members.

We are aiming to provide social support to several people living with early and mid-stages of dementia who have become isolated due to the impacts of this challenging illness. Do you have experience relating to people with living with dementia? Could you give 1 hour a fortnight to make a difference to an older person in your community?

Grant is living in a small retirement complex with a lovely garden and he would benefit greatly from a volunteer who could bring a little cheer to his life. He has some trouble following complex conversations but is able to chat one-on-one. Grant has had a very interesting working life and comes alive when he talks about animals and his families journey to Australia.

Do you really want to make a meaningful to difference to an individual living in your community? This could be it. You will be supported by the Wesley team and we are able to offer additional training if you would like it.

Our volunteers often say they get as much out of volunteering as they put in and they love the chats that they have with the people they visit. What would it take for you to build a friendship with someone new? We will introduce you and provide ongoing support, we even host celebration events to say thank you for making a difference to this person.
