The aim is to cover the history of the Brunswick Valley and to promote it to the public. You will be dealing mostly with visitors and the following is the role of font of house - • Provide a friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming presence • Where possible indicate that admission is by donation • Be prompt, courteous and cooperative in dealing with visitors • Inform visitors of any restrictions • Promote the benefits of membership • Know the location of the First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguishers • Give visitors a brief introduction and orientation to the Museum and what publications there are for sale • Provide the visitors with any leaflets, or information available when you can • Always advise visitors to sign the ‘visitors book’ usually on the stand at front door • Record visitor numbers, sales, applications etc in the ‘day book’ • Answer visitor’s questions where possible or offer them appropriate forms for following-up with research or more details by more experienced members • Encourage visitors to purchase from the bookshop. Items are individually priced and a price list is on the front desk. • Record comments, messages or information in the ‘day book’ so they can be followed up • Be mindful of children visiting and note which adults they are with • Take general care in the safety and well being of yourself, other members and visitors, being sure to report any incidents or potential hazards. We require any volunteer to be a member of the society so that you are covered by insurance.
