Are you someone who enjoys connecting with others, and want to make a difference? We're seeking a compassionate individual to become a friend for Chelsea, a fun and friendly lady with intellectual disability.

What's Involved?

Chelsea likes to spend time making her own jewellery, browsing in markets and going out for meals, and is looking for a companion to share her interests and enjoy each other's company.

As a volunteer, your role would involve spending time together, engaging in activities Chelsea loves. Whether it's listening to music together, going out for coffee or to the movies, your presence will make a significant difference in Chelsea's life.

Why Volunteer?

By becoming Chelsea's friend, you'll create a meaningful relationship that will brighten Chelsea's days. Your friendship will make a profound impact and bring happiness to both Chelsea and yourself.

You’ll have the flexibility to shape your involvement around your schedule, so whether you choose to dedicate an hour or so a week or engage more casually, you can make a difference in a way that fits your life.

We provide training and ongoing support giving you access to workshops, events and opportunities to connect with other volunteers.

While no special experience or qualifications are needed, volunteering as an advocate requires:

  • compassion and empathy
  • good communication skills
  • patience and flexibility
  • commitment to inclusion
  • respect for diversity - abilities, backgrounds, and communication styles
  • reliability and dedication.

We're looking for dedicated individuals, aged 18 and above, ready for a long-term commitment to advocacy. This role is not suitable for students seeking short-term experience or placements. Consistency and dedication to the role is essential, as advocacy often requires ongoing support and involvement.

If you're ready to make a positive difference and forge a fantastic friendship, we'd love to hear from you.
