Are you someone who enjoys connecting with others, and want to make a difference? We are seeking a compassionate individual to become a friend for Emma, an independent, artistic lady with intellectual disability.

What's Involved?

Emma is a creative person who enjoys art and craft, and is looking for a companion to share interests and enjoy each other’s company.

As a volunteer, your role would involve spending time together, engaging in activities Emma loves. Whether it's visiting museums, walks in the park or simply relaxing in each other’s company, your presence will make a significant difference in Emma's life.

Why Volunteer?

By becoming Emma's friend, you'll create a meaningful relationship that will brighten Emma's days. Your friendship will make a profound impact and bring happiness to both Emma and yourself.

You’ll have the flexibility to shape your involvement around your schedule, so whether you choose to dedicate an hour or so a week or engage more casually, you can make a difference in a way that fits your life.

We provide training and ongoing support giving you access to workshops, events and opportunities to connect with other volunteers.

Although experience in the caring industry would be beneficial, it is not essential as Emma receives regular disability support.

While no special experience or qualifications are needed, volunteering as an advocate requires:

  • compassion and empathy
  • good communication skills
  • patience and flexibility
  • commitment to inclusion
  • respect for diversity - abilities, backgrounds, and communication styles
  • reliability and dedication.

We're looking for dedicated individuals, aged 18 and above, ready for a long-term commitment to advocacy. This role is not suitable for students seeking short-term experience or placements. Consistency and dedication to the role is essential, as advocacy often requires ongoing support and involvement.

If you're ready to make a positive difference and forge a fantastic friendship, we'd love to hear from you.
