About Us Project Underdog Rescue is a small but mighty community-based, not for profit, animal welfare charity with a Fear Free mobile vet service. Project Underdog Rescue’s mission is to improve the overall welfare of companion animals in Australia, one animal at a time through rehoming initiatives, outreach programs and education.

The Role We’re seeking a hardworking and dedicated volunteer with initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility to join our team as a HQ Assistant. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting our dedicated vet and animal rescue team by assisting with everyday tasks to help around the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning: Maintain a hygienic and welcoming environment by consistently attending to cleaning duties, ensuring the well-being of animals, staff and visitors
  • Laundry: Handle laundry responsibilities to keep bedding and materials clean and comfortable for our animal residents
  • Administration: Provide valuable administrative support, ensuring the smooth flow of paperwork and processes within HQ
  • Vet clinic support: Assist the veterinary team in various tasks to enhance the overall efficiency of the clinic operations
  • Process online shop orders: Pack and post orders that come through our e-commerce store
  • Unpacking orders: Receipt and put away any clinic orders we receive
  • Preparing enrichment and treats: Put together tasty treats for animals in care and vet clinic patients
  • Sorting donations: Organise, clean and categorise incoming donations
  • Cat/kitten care: Provide hands on care for any feline residents
  • General organisation and tidying of HQ: Contribute to the overall organisation and cleanliness of HQ

You Must

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a current drivers licence
  • Be physically fit and are able to lift up to 15 kg
  • Live locally to Coburg
  • Commit to working a 4 hour shift at least once per week for a minimum of 12 months. Initially shifts will be on Monday mornings or Thursday afternoons, with more flexibility as you learn.
