Volunteering Central Coast
Logo for Volunteering Central Coast

Volunteer Visitors come from all walks of life and we encourage people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.

You can play a part in helping an older person living in residential aged care to stay connected to their culture, language and heritage by providing friendship and companionship with regular visits.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) supports older people who are socially isolated and feeling lonely by matching them with a Volunteer Visitor for regular 1:1 in-person social visits. Just an hour, once a fortnight, can make a real difference to the person you are visiting.

Volunteering as an Aged Care Volunteer Visitor gives you access to new perspectives and helps you connect with your community. • Share ideas and stories • Celebrate and connect with your common culture, language and heritage • Make a new friend • Have a chat and a laugh together • Look at photos, listen to music, go for a walk in the garden, play a game or do a puzzle together

Volunteer Visitors are: • aged 18 years and older • empathetic and have a genuine warmth towards older people • good communicators and great listeners • patient, kind and caring • willing to commit to regular visits with the person you are matched with

Training: Online training. In-person orientation. Ongoing support.

Location: In-person visits take place in an aged care homes in various locations across the entire Central Coast including Umina Beach, Woy Woy, Point Clare, West Gosford, Wyoming, Lisarow and Erina.

An interview with Volunteering Central Coast’s ACVVS Coordinator is required. You will be contacted to arrange a mutually convenient time and place.
