We are seeking a Volunteer Café all-rounder who has cooking background and passion to provide mentorship to young people who are enrolled in our Hospitality course. The café all rounder will also provide support to Chef/Trainer and Café Supervisor in all café duties including food preparation, making coffees and beverages, serving meals, providing excellent customer services.

Key responsibilities

Provide mentorship to young people who are enrolled in Hospitality course. Support Chef/Trainer and Café Supervisor in meeting daily outcomes by preparing meals and serving customers. Provides quality customer service. Assist Chef/Trainer and Café Supervisor with other tasks as directed. Clean and hygienic kitchen and surroundings in keeping with health regulations. Exhibit professional image of the service, always displaying professionalism and integrity. Provide accurate information provided to customers. Refer people to appropriate Salvation Army services. Follow up with Chef or Café Supervisor if unsure. Listen carefully, and acknowledge and refer concerns, issues, or queries to Supervisor.

Qualifications and skills required

· Experience in Hospitality industry preferred.

Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity and leadership skills. Ability to build rapport with young people. Empathetic and understanding approach to working with young people. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to placate complicated or stressful situations. Ability to work in a team and autonomously when required. Ability to work with professional discretion and confidentiality. A respect and willingness to work within the ethos of The Salvation Army Previous work experience in the Hospitality industry sector highly desirable Knowledge of First Aid

As this role involves dealing with confidential information, it requires a Police Check

As we are a youth service working with young people, it requires a NSW Working with Children Check (WWC)

2-5 days per week

9am to 3pm
