Better World Youth Leadership Mentor

Mentors are needed as role models, inspiring new and emerging leaders to have a positive impact in their places of work, study or community. You will be able to provide a style of mentoring that is matched with your strengths and preferences, and the needs of mentees. This may include:

  • short term project based mentoring or more longer term developmental mentoring
  • one-on-one mentoring or in small groups
  • mentoring for youth leaders with specific needs, such as migrants and refugees
  • in person, virtual or hybrid mentoring options available

You will be required to meet with your mentee at a mutually agreed location on a monthly basis at a minimum to discuss how they are developing their local action or project. Mentors are required to acknowledge achievements to build on and help address issues that arise in a non judgemental way. Mentors help young leaders articulate their values and progressively enable them become better leaders in their community, place or work or study.

No experience is necessary as mentors are selected based on life experience, personal skills and aptitudes. Training and coaching is available for those who wish to develop their mentoring skills, that you can use in your personal and professional life. Mentors are required to meet with other mentors every 3 months for peer based feedback and support.
