Background

Corethics is an independent all-volunteer run charity whose charitable purpose is to advance education and the environment. We are agile in nature, open to ways of always improving but also value solid structure to drive change forward. This is a newly created role under a new flat structure where the incumbent will report to the Board.

The Director of the Gala Division is primarily designated to plan, manage, and successfully execute Corethics inaugural charity gala event in Newcastle, NSW. 2024 will be the first year running the Gala. This is a rewarding leadership role which will deliver our main source of income to help prevent chemical pollution from reaching waterways in Bali, Indonesia. Our gala team uses a variety of platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, Canva, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Figma, Miro, Galabid, and Wordpress. Our chosen collaboration platform is google workspace which includes gmail, google docs, forms and more plus google meet. We use Slack and WhatsApp as our chosen communication platforms.The incumbent should have an advanced understanding of these or willingness to harness. You will be confident in leading a virtual team located across various time zones and availability.

This is an exciting role for the seasoned Event Planning/Management professional who will enjoy the rewards of leading a passionate and diverse team of early career volunteers. Position Description

The Director - Gala Division will work in collaboration with the Director - Wastewater Treatment Division, Director - Risk, and Director - Fundraising/Corporate Governance and report to the Board of Directors. This role will manage the current Gala team which consists of Volunteer Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Grants, Web, and Subject Matter Expert (SME). As you explore opportunities this team is likely to expand to include event, administrative, secretarial, and fundraising volunteers. You will also have the opportunity to attract volunteers within other divisions to support Gala timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Directs overall planning, strategy, and execution for Gala Event
  • Defines goals, success metrics, and communications for event
  • Hands-on approach to logistical management
  • Implements best practices and develops standards, policies, and procedures
  • Approves final selection of venue, catering, technology, and other event support services
  • Reviews and approves contracts (internal and external)
  • Develops and stays within budget
  • Identifies, mobilizes, supports, motivates, and keeps volunteers on track
  • Resolves escalated issues through coordination with other divisions
  • Prepares regular report update to Board

Essential skills

  • 3-5 years’ experience in leading Events or Managerial position
  • Excellent analytical and strategic skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using a variety of digital tools to manage a team
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to produce and present reports
  • Bachelor’s degree in events, communications, marketing or similar
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in design, plan and executing effective marketing campaigns

Desired skills

  • Previous experience holding a leadership position in events, sales, or equivalent at a non-profit organization.
  • Experience working in Indonesia, Indonesian native, or Bahasa Indonesia skills
  • Experience working in water sector, international development, or textiles industry
  • Fundraising experience in charitable sector
