Trusted for generations. Iconic in Queensland, officially trusted by Australia. We’re an award-winning care provider, recognised as Australia’s Most Trusted Brand in Queensland for home care and residential care services. It’s a testament to both the quality of our work and the relationships we’ve built since 1953.

Volunteer to change lives. Yours included. This volunteer opportunity will help to provide Pastoral Care to the people we serve by encompassing the rich traditions of compassionate care and being alongside people, that has been built on the example of Jesus for over 2000 years.

Pastoral Care centers on spiritual well-being, embracing healing, guidance, active listening, reconciliation, compassionate support, nurturing, and sustaining individuals within their faith-specific context. Volunteers extend Pastoral Care to elderly and frail aged residents, their families, and caregivers, including those facing dementia.

As a volunteer, you'll work under the guidance, training, and ongoing mentorship of a BlueCare Chaplain, contributing to a friendly, supportive, and professional Pastoral Care Team. Your role involves assisting individuals in discovering meaning, purpose, and connectedness through a faith-specific framework.

  • Facilitate small groups in prayer & bible study
  • Lead spiritual care practices eg: relaxation, meditation, sacraments, rituals, and liturgies that are framed within a person's faith, heritage and faith community
  • The "Tales from the Heart" program

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Build, maintain or contribute specialised skill sets
  • Enjoy social interaction with others
  • Experience the joy of making a meaningful difference

  • Effective Communication Skills: Ability to communicate respectfully and courteously with individuals from diverse backgrounds and the frail aged.
  • Empathetic Engagement: Ability to empathize and provide support by utilizing active listening and reflective skills.
  • Training: Willingness to complete training relevant to the role, including: 1) CARE Essentials Course (6 weeks, one evening per week, online training) overseen by a BlueCare Chaplain. 2) CARE Matters Course with mentoring from a BlueCare Chaplain.

UnitingCare values diversity in our organisation and we have some principles in place that will help to promote both inclusion and access. If you have any other accessibility requirements, please discuss these at the time of the interview.
