Overview

We want everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community to know about the targeted support that OFA offers. From our mentoring program, to the thought leadership and role models we provide, to the wonderful events we hold across the country. This awareness starts with good relationships and networks with other LGBTQIA+ organisations.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is part of a team responsible for fostering connections between OFA and other not-for-profit organisations working in a similar space. As Community Engagement Coordinator, you will drive engagement with OFA’s offerings across the wider LGBTQIA+ community within your home state/territory, developing and implementing community engagement activities while leveraging your existing networks

Responsibilities:

Building and maintaining relationships with community organisations (30%)

  • Acting as the point of contact for one or more community organisations/groups.
  • Leveraging existing networks or following new leads to establish strong relationships with community organisations/groups.
  • Sharing and promoting OFA events and resources (including our mentoring program) with existing networks and community organisations/groups.
  • Devising and implementing strategies to increase community awareness of OFA and our offerings.

Active community engagement (40%)

  • Managing discrete projects in collaboration with other community organisations/groups,
  • including organising joint events and preparing joint communication/marketing or educational materials,
  • Consider creative and tangible ways to increase brand awareness and positive perception of
  • OFA amongst community organisations/groups, including to increase number of participants
  • in our mentoring program and attendees at OFA events.
  • Increase number of community organisations highlighted on OFA’s communication channels, and manage related processes.

Internal community engagement consultation (20%)**

  • Accept and actively participate in consultation with other portfolios within the organisation (including Communications, Partnerships, Community, Mentoring, Events and Business teams) in relation to community engagement.
  • This may include consultation on how another team can best contribute to your home State/Territory’s OFA strategy, or assisting our Events Teams with a community-focused OFA event in partnership with local community organisations/groups.

General volunteer expectations (10%)

  • Undertake an OFA volunteer induction and role onboarding.
  • Understand and implement OFA’s strategy, vision and mission.
  • Uphold our volunteer code of conduct.
  • Attend OFA Town Hall meetings and other organisation-wide activities as required.
  • Assist with initiatives as required.
