Key duties: Likely to be Australia-based and have experience in fund-raising and access to potential donation sources.

  1. Commit to regularly attend board meetings and the annual board strategy session.
  2. Maintain and enhance mission and purposes and ensure the strategy is aligned with the organisation’s charitable objectives.
  3. Select, support, and evaluate the CEO.
  4. Ensure effective strategy and actively participate in an overall planning process and monitor performance against these goals.
  5. Ensure programs are consistent with the organisation’s mission and objectives, as well as evaluating their effectiveness.
  6. Ensure adequate financial resources for the organisation to fulfill its mission and ensure the organisation is solvent..
  7. Protect organisation’s assets and provide financial oversight, including approving the annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place as per legislative requirements.
  8. Help build a competent board by articulating prerequisites for candidates,orient new members, and periodically and comprehensively evaluate its own performance.
  9. Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain responsibility for adherence to legal standards and ethical practices in country and internationally.
  10. Enhance the organisation’s public standing by clearly articulating the organisation’s mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and look for ways to gain support from the community.
  11. Actively participate in the continual development of the organisation’s fundraising strategy.

Skills and experience needed to do the role:

  1. Fundraising: Support the CEO and board in fundraising endeavours with access to new networks.
  2. Fiduciary: Accountability to donors & stakeholders Compliance to ACNC Standards for a charity operating overseas as well as all legal obligations and commitment to the Board Charter.
  3. Marketing: to help the organisation develop its outreach into new communities.
