The role of the volunteer drive at Homes for Heros is vital in creating a sense of wellbeing, connection and connection, and community for veterans. The driver will assist team by driving our clients - veterans to wellbeing appointments and various activities, such as golf, fishing, etc.

Main tasks:

• Collect the veterans from the agreed pick-up point in ANZAC Village in Narrabeen and drive them to the agreed location, as advised by the member of staff

• Be available between the agreed time and drive the vehicles to the agreed location

• Ensure that all road and parking signs are obeyed and that passengers alight in a safe area

• Provide social support to veterans

• Drive the veterans back to the agreed location, as advised by the member of staff

• Attend Volunteer Check-ins every 8 weeks, at the mutually convenient time

• Communicate and report concerns, issues and feedback to staff

Personal Qualities:

• Have current Class C driver licence and a good driving record, which may be checked at any time

• Have a sound knowledge of road rules and be comfortable driving more than one person in one vehicle

• Great interpersonal skills and ability to make personal connections with people from different backgrounds

• Be reliable, flexible and committed

• Show patience, kindness and empathy for all passengers

• A desire to make a positive difference in someone’s life
