Food Bank – Transport and Delivery

Norlane Community Centre Inc

The collection of food will happen each Thursday at a time specified by the Food Bank Manger and will continually be assessed to ensure the program continues to run efficiently. One of the Food Transport and Delivery Volunteers will use their own vehicle and trailer and be accompanied by another Food Transport and Delivery Volunteer who will help to select and load food items according to the partnered organisations requirements and the Food Bank Manger requests. It is a requirement that the Food Transport and Delivery Volunteers are at Norlane Community Centre before the scheduled pickup time, to ensure they receive updates and instructions from the Food Bank Manager. They will also need to load the black crates from the previous week into the vehicle to return to Food Relief. After collecting the food donations, the Food Transport and Delivery team will return to Norlane Community Centre. They will unload the food safely onto awaiting trolleys ready for volunteers to transport to nearby trestle tables . As this role involves heavy lifting, strict OH&S guidelines must be followed to ensure safe manual handling. The Food Transport and Delivery role requires a professional, respectful, and appreciative approach when liaising with partnered organisations and dealing with volunteers at Norlane Community Centre.
