The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of the Multicultural Association of Russian-speaking Women - Ogonyok.

We are seeking a dedicated and creative Social Media volunteer to help us expand our online presence and engage with our community. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for scheduling weekly posts on Instagram and Facebook and possibly creating them along with a small team of social media creators to promote our organisation's mission, activities, and events as well as important cultural days for Australia and Russian speaking countries, as well as international holidays. You will also help revitalise our WordPress site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Wordpress website and marketing material (Update and maintain the website, commercial, and Ad Posts)
  • Maintain newsletter online and newsletter contributor/multimedia assistant materials (Social media application Ads and posts)
  • Create and curate engaging and visually appealing content for Instagram and Facebook.
  • Manage a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting.
  • Write compelling captions and utilise relevant hashtags to increase reach and engagement.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries on social media platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Ogonyok team to align social media efforts with overall organisational goals.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Passion for our organisation's mission and values.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative and innovative mindset with an eye for design.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook.
  • Basic graphic design skills and knowledge of content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Bing AI).
  • Familiarity (or willingness to learn) WordPress.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Previous experience in social media management is a plus but not required.

Time Commitment: This is a volunteer position with flexible hours. We welcome individuals who can commit to at least 3 months of service. Benefits:
