MS Plus is funded to provide the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS). Volunteer visitors share stories, go for a stroll or have a cuppa, listen to music or play a board game. Our volunteers play a vital role in the life of a person living in an aged care home or their own home through ongoing friendship.

Would you like to visit an older person and make a real difference in their life? Have you got some time and conversation to share to reduce loneliness?

We are seeking a mature aged, female volunteer visitor for a delightfully warm lady who lives in aged care who would enjoy making a new friend for company to go for coffee, listen to music, sing or an activity like painting her nails.

She used to be a high school teacher, loves music and concerts and was very active in the church choir. She has lost her speech due to stroke, however cognitively she understands everything and communicates with facial expressions, pointing and thumbs up and down for yes/no. She understands both English and Malayam language.

You need to be warm, caring, reliable and comfortable to drive the conversation. We also ask you are willing to commit to weekly connections/visits or at least fortnightly connections/visits for a minimum of 12 months/ongoing.

Virtual visits (letters, emails, postcards ) are vital and help continue connections during periods of visiting restrictions.
