A sports statistician typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include: • Use computer software to track statistical data or manually record data in a paper notebook • Research historical statistics and trends to project future performance of individuals or teams • Apply knowledge of probability and statistics in order to interpret results and identify possible errors • Prepare weekly or daily reports on player performance statistics • Track statistics such as goals scored, errors made, and other key performance indicators • Interview players and coaches to collect information about performance on the field or court
