Community Outreach Team

Tender Funerals Canberra Region
Logo for Tender Funerals Canberra Region

This position requires individuals who believe we should all be able to talk about death and dying and that it is a normal part of life. You will be confident in speaking with the public and are willing to learn how to be the public face of Tender at events. You will need to be familiar with the Tender Credo (we will provide this) and how to discuss our work with the public.

While many community outreach opportunities do not involve or prioritise fundraising, it’s important to note that all Community Outreach Volunteers should be familiar with how to take or direct donations, as community outreach and donations from the public often overlap.

Examples of community outreach activities include:

Tender Talks We host regular opportunities for the public to ask questions about dying, death and funerals, usually at a cafe or other friendly space.

Markets We attend a range of markets with our booth to promote awareness, start conversations about dying, death and funerals and encourage people to subscribe to our mailing list and support Tender through donations.

Special Purpose Events We host or co-host one-off events with a special focus, such as Science Week.

Attendance at other people’s events Sometimes we are invited to speak to or participate in events run by others.

Tender Workshops These are events where former clients and/or the public are invited to learn (e.g. preparing for your own funeral), make (shrouds, coffins, memorial items) or participate (choir, sewing circle).
