Vets for Compassion

Logo for Vets for Compassion

🎥 Real rescues. Real impact. Real stories.

We’re looking for a volunteer videographer to join our rescue team on the ground — capturing raw, emotional footage that helps raise awareness, build support, and save lives. From chaotic bushfire zones to quiet moments of animal recovery, your camera will help tell stories the world needs to see.

🐨 Who are we? Vets for Compassion is a volunteer-led animal rescue organisation responding to animals in crisis across Australia. We care for injured wildlife, neglected farm animals, and animals affected by bushfires, floods, and other natural disasters — both locally and internationally.

Our rescue teams are out 24/7 across Melbourne and surrounds, risking their own safety to protect animals in distress. We’re also experienced in emergency response deployments to disaster zones including bushfires, floods, and tsunamis.

🐾 What You’ll Do:

  • Join our rescue teams in the field to capture compelling, high-quality footage
  • Film everything from emergency call-outs and vet procedures to training days and community events
  • Help shape visual narratives that spotlight our frontline work and the animals we care for
  • Collaborate with our editor, photographer, and comms team to turn raw content into impactful stories
  • Contribute ideas for content formats (short-form, doco-style, campaign videos)

🎯 Requirements:

  • Experience with videography (portfolio or examples required)
  • Confident operating cameras in dynamic, outdoor environments
  • Able to travel across Melbourne and surrounds (some rural locations)
  • Available approx. 1 day per fortnight (flexible around shoots)
  • Passion for animal welfare and ethical storytelling
  • Bonus: Ability to edit your own footage, or shoot for social/mobile-first formats

💚 What You’ll Gain:

  • Real-world video content for your portfolio — with opportunities to be credited in published work
  • Access to incredible behind-the-scenes moments few videographers ever capture
  • Be mentored by an experienced industry professional who has worked on Bondi Vet, Paramedics, Ambulance, and Mega Zoo
  • A chance to contribute to rescue, advocacy, and fundraising campaigns seen across Australia
  • Grow your creative and documentary skills in a high-impact, real-world setting
  • Be part of a passionate, boots-on-the-ground team making real change
  • Flexible volunteering that fits around your lifestyle
