Neighbourhood is a community building project that is not so much about what you get out of being a member, but more about what you choose to become a part of. We think of Neighbourhood as an intention, a direction, a promise, a way of relating and a place all at the same time. For us, Neighbourhood is where we are, where we want to go, how we want to do it and who we want to be in the process. You can be a part of Neighbourhood, as a member, a volunteer, a neighbour, a community organisation or local business. However and how often you like. If you want to. At Neighbourhood, there is a role for everyone that wants one. Neighbourhood was created by the team at The Pear, but is kept going day in day out by people in the neighbourhood. With the support of local volunteers, Neighbourhood organises regular activities and community events and spearheads local projects. The project is proudly supported by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, ECH Inc. and the South Australian Government Office for Ageing Well. Along with our project partner Skylight, Neighbourhood has identified the need for basic cooking and nutrition classes for those in our Neighbourhood, in particular people who are socially isolated, living alone, living with disability, mental health needs etc.

The newly created volunteer position of Cooking Host will support group members to cook simple and healthy meals, whilst creating a sociable and supportive environment, learning the importance of nutrition, safe food handling, cooking on a budget and more! The cooking classes will run for a total of 12 weeks, on Tuesdays from approximately 11am-1pm. Join our team of incredible volunteers and facilitate as many sessions as you like!

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
