Become a volunteer with the Department for Child Protection. If you’re an understanding, caring, enthusiastic person with an interest in improving outcomes for children and young people we’d like to hear from you.

Tasks may include but not limited to driving a child to family visits, school or appointments. Life story book work. Recreational activities. Skill development such as sharing a particular skill such as how to shop for food or clothing.

Benefits may include helping your community by supporting vulnerable children. Social contact with a variety of people and developing valuable networks. Developing career options and personal growth.

As a volunteer you will be provided with training, orientation and ongoing support. Reimbursed for mileage to and from DCP office. Government vehicles are used for the volunteer tasks and, as a volunteer, you are covered by the government volunteer’s insurance cover.

We appreciate any time you are able to give and will try and work around your availability. We do ask volunteers to be reliable and available for a reasonable amount of time which may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Working With Children Checks are required and your Volunteer Coordinator can assist if you have any questions about this process.
