Asian Australian Organisational Psychology Inc (AAOP) is a not for profit, purpose driven organisation run by a group of psychologists who specialise in leadership, health and wellbeing, and performance. We are dedicated to leveraging our expertise and lived experience to make impactful social change. We do this by partnering with a range of organisations and professionals to deliver targeted programs and initiatives to raise awareness, build capability and affect cultural change. We also consider ourselves a professional body that nurtures and supports the next generation of Asian Australian Organisational Psychologists. And lastly, we advocate for Asian Australians in the psychology community, impacting the inclusivity of how psychology programs are delivered.
About the role
We are looking for a passionate individual who wants to play a critical role at AAOP as a member of the Board. Board members are critical in setting and driving the strategic ambitions of AAOP, and you will be primarily accountable for organisational oversight. This role will also oversee one of AAOP’s portfolios - in particular the Research & Development portfolio. Reporting to the Chair of the Board, we are seeking a candidate who will need to be able to commit to 2-8 hours per week as a volunteer.
Duties/Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities will be as follows:
- Set the strategic direction of AAOP to help the organisation achieve its purpose
- Actively participate in all relevant Board duties such as attending board meetings, maintaining minutes and actions.
In addition to the Board Secretary responsibilities, this role will also be responsible for overseeing the Research & Development portfolio of work. This includes:
- Advising the R&D team on the strategic vision for the portfolio
- Conducting regular meetings with the R&D lead
- Providing updates to the rest of the Board on R&D matters as required
Skills/Experiences/Attributes
- Tertiary qualifications in Organisational Psychology
- Experience or interest in Research & Development or related fields
- Demonstrated business acumen
- Passionate about promoting cultural equity for Asian Australians and other CALD communities
- Passionate about working for a Not-for-Profit and/or experience in working at a Not-for-Profit or as a volunteer
- Demonstrates curiosity and eagerness to learn
