Youngster.co has developed an intergenerational program that creates opportunities for disadvantaged youth to develop meaningful connections with seniors. It is a win-win for both; youngsters gain valuable life and employability skills by helping seniors with their technology, while seniors get their tech issues solved and pass on their life skills.
Location: Sydney Metro & Inner West LGA’s
Day & Times: 2 hours a week
About the role
Youngster.co is seeking a Lead Youngster Supervise and assist 10 local Youngsters (year 10 and 11) from nearby schools as they help Seniors with tech.
- You’ll guide Seniors to Youngsters as they arrive, and direct people into pairs or groups for tech help.
- Communicating necessary information to Youngsters ahead of time such as needing to arrive early to receive a shirt and sign in or bring a facemask etc.
- Answering and explaining anything Youngsters may need to know to help them gain confidence in what they’re doing during the sessions.
- Encouraging good standards of practice; making sure they're following confidentiality requirements, not taking over the senior’s devices etc.
- Turning up to the session on time.
- Using our software system to check in Seniors and Youngsters
- Any other small tasks we need to run the tech help sessions
We may request some extra hours (paid) from time to time.
Requirements:
- Good people skills, comfortable talking with Youngsters and Seniors.
- Familiar with using touch devices easily.
- You’ll need a Working with Children’s Check (We can help you get one if you don’t already)
- National Police Check
- Drivers Licence
