Key responsibilities:
Use your leadership skills to guide a volunteer team of Maintenance Assistants in general maintenance activities
Apply your handy experience to facilitate or oversee small repairs to property, buildings and fixtures as guided by the Corps Officer
With the guidance and approval of the site manager and our Property Department, co-ordinate professional trades to complete works
Regularly meet with Corps Officer or Property Department to discuss or report repairs
Access to a range of gardening and maintenance equipment, as well as personal protective equipment, to ensure work can be done well and safely, where monitoring equipment’s condition is also an important part of the role
Provide assistance to the Corps Officer with other maintenance tasks as required
Make sure all people and the workplace are safe by always abiding by safe work practices
Keep children safe by always abiding by Salvation Army’s child safe policies and code of conduct
Qualifications and skills (desired/required):
All volunteers will need to have their details recorded, background checks finalised, and the required training completed to commence in the role.
As this role’s primary focus is general maintenance, experience across many maintenance areas is essential.
This role will have many occasions to positively work with others, delegating and instructing, ordering items from suppliers, so good communication skills, both written and verbal is important.
