We currently have a volunteer opportunity for the following:

Economic Scoping Advisor

Braidwood is a very scenic town, a bustling centre for surrounding villages and located within commuting distance from Canberra. It has a unique climate and geology, a vibrant history, it benefits from being close to both Canberra and the coast and has lots of gourmet produce and artisan craft. However, Braidwood is struggling economically, it has been disadvantaged by 2 recent local council mergers, a lack of political influence, a lack of accommodation for both workers and visitors, and a lack of car parking facilities for potential business customers and the restrictions associated with heritage listing. This role seeks to compile and document the economic value of Braidwood to support its efforts, to enable political and economic leverage in its engagement with key stakeholders, and potentially support future grant applications.

About the opportunity

Primary Purpose of the Position

This role seeks to compile and document the economic value of Braidwood to support its efforts, to enable political and economic leverage in its engagement with key stakeholders, and potentially support future grant applications.

Tasks: •Desk-based research to scope out and document the economic value-add potential of Braidwood •Assess similar assets to see how they are being deployed, marketed, etc to realise maximum benefits.

Skills Required: As this is envisioned to be a team assignment, the following are the sought-after make-up of the team: •A working understanding of regional economic development, visitor economy, boutique businesses, economics of natural/ environmental resources, town planning, heritage and similar •Project management/coordination •Economic research and analysis
