Library Digital Literacy Volunteer

About the Program:

To assist Libraries staff in delivering professional and accessible digital literacy training and updates through instruction, discussion, and individual guidance.

Key Tasks:

  • Provide a professional, welcoming, and friendly digital literacy and instruction service
  • Promote a positive view toward the benefits of online platforms
  • Support adults with the challenges of adopting new technologies
  • Assist library staff in pursuing digital literacy programs and activities that benefit t the community
  • Report all incidents, hazards, near misses and accidents as soon as reasonably practicable

Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities:

  • Experience with various digital applications, devices and operating systems and understanding appropriate learning styles.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and provide them with personal instruction on digital literacy
  • Understanding of the value of libraries in support of digital literacy and learning opportunities for library customer
  • Able to follow directions from library staff.

Time Commitment:

  • Aldinga Library: Friday 10:00 am -12:00 pm
  • Hub Library: Wednesday 2:00 pm -4:00 pm
  • Noarlunga Library: Monday & Wednesday 10:00 am -12:00 pm
  • Seaford Library: Tuesday 2:00 pm -4:00 pm
  • Willunga Library: Tuesday 2:00 pm -4:00 pm

Special Requirements:

  • Department of Human Services (DHS) “Not Prohibited” Working with Children Check
  • Attend Child Safe Environment training (These can be organised for you)
