There are many fun ways you can connect with your new friend every week

  • Chatting about your own life experiences and listening to them, also

  • Playing board games

  • Taking them on short walks

  • Watch a television program with them

  • Maybe help them learn about the internet and help them to send an email

  • Knitting and sewing or other hobbies

Skills and Qualities needed for this role

  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to build positive relationships and connections

  • Motivation to make a difference in someone's life

  • Patience, courteous and friendly manner

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Ability to respect personal boundaries and maintain a caring relationship

Mandatory Expectations

  • Be willing to undergo a National Police Check – fully paid for by PGNSW

  • Be Covid vaccinated and willing to comply with all aged care regulations and restrictions.

  • Must be willing to complete online induction materials before commencement.

  • Be able to visit your new friend weekly on an ongoing basis for a minimum of 6mths

  • Have two referees who will be supplied to PGNSW.

Volunteers are required in the areas of: Armidale and Sefton

People receiving aged care services come from all different social and cultural backgrounds and we encourage volunteers from all backgrounds to apply.
