This role works in partnership with Portland Community Mealshare as part of the Meal Team. The Community Meals Team Member ensures the smooth planning and delivery of the food aspects of the meal, making sure that guests can actively participate in meal preparation within a safe, hygienic and healthy environment.

Undertake Assistant Duties

Assist the Food Services Team Leader/Coordinator in meeting weekly outcomes by preparing meals and serving customers when rostered on.

Provide quality customer service.

Assisting site Manager/Supervisor with other tasks as directed.

Meals delivered within the directed timeframe and appropriate customer service delivery.

Clean and hygienic kitchen and surroundings in keeping with health regulations.

Provide Quality Customer Service

Exhibiting professional image of the service, displaying professionalism and integrity at all times.

Accurate information provided to customers.

Refer people to appropriate Salvation Army services. Follow up with Manager if unsure.

Listen carefully, and acknowledge and refer concerns, issues or queries to Manager.

Pack up clean up

Ensure meal set up, clean up and pack up is completed as required

Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment

Immediately report any health and safety concerns, notifiable incidents and near misses, to Senior Team Leader and ensure any hazards are controlled until rectified.

Ensure hazard, incident and accident form is completed when required in a timely manner.

All volunteers are to be mindful of their own health and to take care of the health and safety of others.

Volunteers are required to comply with all TSA work, health and safety policies and procedures as applicable to their workplace.

Ensure PPE is used as required

Required For The Position

Complete The Salvation Army (TSA) Mission Volunteer registration, induction and training - TSA is a ChildSafe workplace.

Integrity checks as required for the role.

Must obtain or be willing to get a volunteer Working With Childrens Check Reliable, trustworthy, self-motivated team player.

Ability to work with minimal direct supervision and follow instruction. Optimistic and calm when in difficulty with the ability to problem solve.
