Gentle Group Exercise Volunteer, Aged Care Home WahroongaHammondCare Australia
If you are someone who values the importance of regular exercise, would you consider sharing your skills with people living with dementia who are frail and elderly? Our Residential Home is In Woonona Ave, Wahroonga and we wish to keep our residents as active as possible within their physical capabilities. Could you run simple (some chair based) exercises for residents once/week?
During this time you would demonstrate simple exercises for a group to some familiar music from the 50s 60s and 70s in the background. We have a colourful parachute, balloons and bats which could add to the fun. Many of our residents also appreciate being taken for one to one walks. Many of our group activities and exercise opportunities have been lost during the lockdowns and we would love you to be a part of bringing them back.
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
HammondCare is an independent Christian charity and we're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need. We have a wonderful group of volunteers that partner with us to enhance the lives of people cared for by HammondCare.
