The proceeds go to Guide Dogs SA/NT and contribute to our expertise in dogs and vision to promote independence, participation, inclusion and wellbeing for people with low vision, blindness or specialized support needs.

About the role

The role of Cleaning & Laundry Volunteer is to assist Beau’s staff with cleaning and laundry duties to ensure pet belongings and facilities are maintained at an excellent standard of hygiene.

Key Responsibilities may include: • Ensuring pet belongings are recorded on laundry check-in sheets • Operation of laundry washing machines and dryers • Washing of pet belongings including pet bed covers, blankets, soft toys • Washing of all Beau’s sheets, blankets and towels • Hanging items on internal clotheslines • Folding pet belongings and returning to owner containers • Folding and keeping neatly ordered all Beau’s items • Keeping Beau’s Laundry tidy, including washing machines and dryers filters cleaned • Cleaning of floors in walkways and general areas (all non-pet suite areas of cat and dog boarding facility) – mopping and operation of T2 floor cleaner

About you • Enthusiasm, energy and the ability to demonstrate initiative, while still being able to work under direction. • Proven ability to undertake long periods of physical labour, bending, lifting, squatting and kneeling. • Ability to lift resources up to 20kg. Follow WH&S policies in correct lifting techniques and use assistance where required. • Sound animal welfare ethics and emotional maturity. • Ability to strictly follow animal handling procedures as failure to do so may result in scratches, bites, lacerations and/or other injuries. • Ability to strictly follow policies and procedures regarding WH&S, zoonotic diseases, controlled drugs, chemical use and body waste products.

A current Police Clearance will be required (paid by Guide Dogs SA/NT)
