Running Training Buddy for Blind Man in CBD
Blind Sports Victoria Inc.Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria is currently seeking a fit volunteer who enjoys running, to assist a blind man in his 30s train for different running events. This person lives in Melbourne's CBD and requires a training buddy once a week for 1-2 hours. You will also help integrate this participant into his local running club. You need to be up-to-date with your Covid-19 vaccinations to apply.
You will be part of the Walking with Willpower program, which aims to increase fitness, well-being and community involvement for adults who are blind or vision impaired.
As a friendly, volunteer walking buddy you need to be more than 18 years of age, with a positive attitude towards people with disabilities.
Recruitment involves an interview, police and referee checks and completion of short training on how to best assist a person who has vision loss whilst out walking and running.
